The Time Has Finally Come For My First Solo Photography Exhibit!

A few months back I shared a little insight into the creative process of developing the concept that would soon become my first ever solo photography exhibit, a collection of abstract bodyscape portraits inspired by the neo-expressionist paintings of Jean-Michel Basquiat. Now after five months of shooting, Obnoxious Liberals: A Bodypaint Tribute To Jean-Michel Basquiat will open on October 15th, 2016 at the Exchange Room Gallery of Il Tramezzino UCLA!

Come enjoy the Opening Night Reception on October 15th at 7pm, featuring live art and entertainment with music from DJ Santana of TruthSeekers Radio 90.7 KPFK, a live bodypainting session, guest photographic work from Sahmia Ase, and live spoken word performances, with free food and drinks courtesy of Il Tramezzino Italian Restaurant and free beer courtesy of Golden Road Brewing!

Attendance is FREE for all ages!  (Must be 21+ to drink).  RSVP on Facebook and visit ExchangeRoomGallery.com for more info!

Larrabure Wedding

I've sure shot a lot of wedding this year for someone who is not at all a wedding photographer, or even close to one.  But the truth is I've always found them a lot of fun, and do genuinely enjoy going to friends' weddings.  So when a friend and colleague inquires about said services, I find myself inclined to say yes.  Especially if it means I get to shoot them my way...

For anyone who didn't get it, by "my way" I mean drunk and with a Pentax 67.  Moving on...

It was a small ceremony held at The Raymond in Pasadena, which turned out to be an incredible venue.  Both in terms of lighting and of space.

Had a quick fun shoot with my good friend Ama today in Downtown Long Beach.

A Cali Afternoon

A good friend and creative collaborator Anninka and I took a stroll around Santa Monica while I broke in my new-to-me Bronica ETRS and Canon AE-1...

Meet Anninka, Costume Designer and muse.

Meet Anninka, Costume Designer and muse.

This was my first time venturing out into Santa Monica since moving to Los Angeles.  I arrived here with the mindset of a permanent resident, so I never really explored the city much before just "living" in it.  Anninka graciously offered to show me around, and became my reluctant muse for the day.  A few of the photographs captured on this day still remain some of my all-time favorites.

This certainly wouldn't be our last shoot.
